PETTIE PERFORMANCE

In 1998, Jim Pettie started his own business, originally called Pettie Maintenance, working out of a truck. Two years later, he built his shop. The business began by servicing all types of diesel equipment, but over time, Jim’s passion and knowledge of cars helped expand what they offered. In 2020, to better reflect these services, the business changed its name to Pettie Performance.

MEET THE TEAM

JIM PETTIE

OWNER AND MECHANIC

Jim Pettie was born and raised in Athens, AL. He grew up on a farm and started working on farm equipment, such as lawnmowers and tractors, at a very young age. Throughout high school, he developed a love for cars and he became the go-to mechanic for his friends. After graduating, he got a job at Caterpillar as a Field Service Technician in 1985. After 14 years, he decided to leave and open up his own business, formerly known as Pettie Maintenance. He started out working on heavy equipment and diesel work. Overtime, his love for cars took over and now, he mainly works on hot rods. Jim has been married to his beautiful wife, Tracy, for 28 years. They have two amazing daughters together, Avery and Emery, who both attend Auburn University.

PERRY BAKER

MECHANIC

Perry Baker was born and raised in Athens, AL, where he grew up working on his family farm. Throughout school, he not only helped on his family's farm but also worked on several others in the area. After graduating, he began working at Coil Plus, a steel processing company, in 1988 as a production worker. After seven years, he transitioned into a maintenance role. In 2000, Perry left the steel industry to join Pettie Performance, where he has been Jim’s right-hand man for the past 25 years. He specializes in all things diesel, from Powerstroke engines to generators. Perry has been married to his loving wife, Heather, for 26 years, and together they have a 12-year-old son, Lane.

TIM DONAHOO

MECHANIC

Tim Donahoo was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He landed his first job in the automotive industry in 1990, assisting at a local body shop. In 1992, he moved to Alabama and spent the next seven years working in paint preparation at various body shops. In 2002, He joined Pro Align, a local auto restoration company, where he worked as a painter for 18 years. Tim became part of the Pettie Performance team in 2020 and has been with us ever since. He specializes in auto body restoration, automotive painting, classic car mechanical work, and wiring. Tim has always had a love for cars and has owned several classic cars over the years.
